Kano Government Vows To Eradicate HIV/AIDS, Other Ailments Across The State.

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State has promised to strengthen the state’s healthcare sector to ensure effective healthcare delivery, stressing that he is committed to end HIV pandemic in the state.

The state commissioner for health, Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa made this known on Monday while addressing journalists in Kano, to commemorate the 2019 World Aids day to tackle the challenges facing the sector and HIV Aids careers.

He said Governor Ganduje's led-administration has set aside one week to celebrate the commemoration of the World HIV Aids day across the 44 local government areas in the state with multi-disease medical outreach, HIV testing and counselling services and treatment of malaria, hypertension, diabetes among other ailments.

"Kano state government has spent over N486 million in the fight against HIV/Aids in three years, and currently more than 35,000 people living with HIV are receiving care and treatment across 40 hospitals in the state" Dr. Tsanyawa said.

He recalled that Governor Ganduje has in the last four years completed and equipped two ultra modern hospitals, addingcthat the gesture would address many challenges in the sector and eradicate manpower shortage to bridge the gaps and ensure efficient service delivery to the people.

Dr. Tsanyawa however expressed his satisfaction with Kano government’s achievements in tackling HIV/AIDS across the state.

He ascribed the success to efforts by communities in partnership, donor agencies and other stakeholders with the government of Kano state under Governor Ganduje.
