APC Refutes Matawalle's Allegations, Says Yari Not Responsible For Insecurity In Zamfara.
By Muhammad Bashir.
The Zamfara State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected Governor Bello Matawalle’s allegation that former governor Abdulaziz Yari was the person behind killing of innocent people and destructions of property in the state. The APC committee on Information Chairman, Alhaji Birnin Magaji, debunked the claim following the allegation made by Zamfara State Governor, Mohammed Matawalle, that former Governor Yari had a hand in the killings of innocent people in the state.
While receiving surrendered firearms from a repentant bandit last Thursday, Governor Mattawalle had threatened that, if the former Governor kept holding secret meeting with unpatriotic criminals with a view to launch attack on any community, he will personally swing to arrest him by himself.
He insisted that Governor Matawalle’s claim and threat were empty and a deliberate attempt to score cheap political point.’
“It is undemocratic for Governor Matawalle to embark on filthy and unguarded statements against the former Governor’s hard earned reputation of whose aims was to facilitate meaningful development of the state.
“Our most popular party in the state will not relent to seek Governor Matawalle’s further explanation on his empty claim, we will like him to openly tell the entire nation and the world, the links and contacts of our political icon with the bandits in the state”, the Committee Chairman has challenged. Alhaji Birnin Magaji further said;
“Former Governor Yari, being an integral figure to maintain the existence of the opposition APC, has undeniable indigenous right to come to Zamfara State for reasons not even need to mention. “He usually comes to hold meetings with members of the party across the state with a view to boost their morale politically, which we are among. So we do not know whether Governor Matawalle meant that all members of APC are armed bandits.
According to Birnin Magaji to stop making unguarded statement pointing out that it was wrong of Governor Matawalle to have said that ‘anytime that the former Governor came to the state and hold meetings with members of our great party APC, there would be killings, destructions and even cattle rustling.
“So we want him to focus on what he was expected to do as the state Governor”, Birnin Magaji has stated.
